ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DRLINGAME
REVISING THE DEFINITION OF "FINANCIAL INSTITUTION" AND ADDING A
NEW DEFINITION FOR "INVESTMENT ADVISOR OR BROKER" UNDER THE
CITY ZONING CODE [TITLE 251
The CITY COUNCIL of the CITY OF BURLINGAME does hereby ordain as follows:
Section 1. The current definition of "financial institution" includes brokerages and
financial advisors that do not generally have any greater impact on parking resources than other
professional offices such as attorneys' or accountants' might. Therefore, it appears appropriate
to differentiate between a brokerage and a financial institution. This ordinance further clarifies
definitions regarding placement in other businesses and automatic teller machines.
Section 2. Section 25.08.264 is amended to read as follows:
25.08.264 Financial institution
"Financial institution" means:
1. Astate-licensed bank, national bank, savings and loan association, savings bank, federal
credit union, state -licensed credit union, industrial loan company or finance company and money
machines associated with them; and
Z. A financial institution install
ed in another business, whether financially independent or
not, shall be considered a financial institution, and required to meet all requirements of Title 25 for
finan
cial institutions.
3. Free standin
g automatic teller machines (ATMs) or similar machines dispensing currency
I and other items for cash or debit shall not be considered financial institutions.
Section 3. Anew Section 25.08.388 is added to the Municipal Code to read as follows:
� 25.08.388 Investment Advisor or Broker
"Investment Advisor or Broker" means an investment or financial counselor or manager,

broker or dealer in stocks, bonds, or commodities, or similar business offering the same or similar
services.
Section 4. Section 25.08.495 is amended Lore as follows:
25.08.495 Office.
"Office" means a room or group of rooms used for conducting the affairs of a business,
profession, service, industry or government; unless specifically excluded, it includes financial
institutions, investment advisors or brokers, health services, and real estate offices.
Section 5. Section 25.68.025 is amended to read as follows:
� 25.68.025 Limited occupations.
The following occupations and those considered to be of similar character by the city
planner may be carried on as home occupation subject to the requirements of Section 25.68.010
and the additional limitations set forth hereinafter: accountants, attorneys, investment advisors or
brokers, psychic services, insurance and real estate agents. The additional limitations are:
1. The applicant shall be the sole person engaged in the business;
2. There shall be no other employees on-site or off-site; and
3. No clients shall come to the site.
