ADDING §18e12.040a TO THE MUNICIPAL CODE AND PROVIDING FOR IN-
STALLATION OF BAC Y. WATER VALVES

The City Council of tkie City of Burlingame does ordain as
Section 1:

§18.12.040a is added to the Burlingame Muni -

Section 400 (b) to read:
'(1) When sanitary sewer laterals, pipes or piping
serve fixtures within a building and any floor on which
fixtures are located is below the level of the top of the'
nearest upgrade or upstream manhole of the main sewer,
they shall be protected from the back flow of sewage by
the installation of an appropriate number of approved type
back water valves. The back water valve shall be ac-
cessible for inspection and repairs and unless continuous+
ly exposed by suspension inside the building, shall be
enclosed in a water tight masonry pit with a removal
cover , "'
Section 2: The foregoing addition to the Uniform
Plumbing Code, 1970 Edition, is reasonably necessary because of
local conditions.
