HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrd 0989ORDINANCE N0. 989 ADDING CHAPTER 2.29 TO TITLE 2 (ADMINISTRATION) OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE PROVIDING FOR POSTING NOTICES INVITING BIDS ON PUBLIC PROJECTS E M E R G E N C Y The City Council of the City of Burlingame does ordain as follows: Section l: Chapter 2.29 is hereby added to Title 2 (Administration) of the Burlingame Municipal Code to read and provide as follows: "Chapter 2.29 NOTICES INVITING BIDS ON PUBLIC PROJECTS §2.29.010 Posting notices. Notices inviting bids on public projects w ich are required by the provisions of Government Code 937903 to be posted shall be posted at the following three municipal buildings in the City of Burlingame: (1) the City Hall; (2) the Main Public Library; and (3) the Recreation Center, and may be posted at such other public places within the City as the Director of Public Works may designate." Section 2: Urgency. It is hereby declared that this ordinance is an ordinance for the immediate preservation of the public peace, safety, health and welfare and is an emergency mea- sure as provided by law and shall take effect upon its final !passage. The City Council finds that the Burlingame Advance - Star, the only newspaper heretofor both printed and published in the City of Burlingame, has ceased business, its last issue having been dated May 30, 1973, and that there is no longer any - 1 - newspaper printed and published in the City. That the City is required, pursuant to the provisions of Government Code 537903, to post notices inviting bids on public projects, in such event, in at least 3 public places to be designated by ordinance; no such ordinance has yet been adopted and no such public places have been designated by ordinance or otherwise; it is necessary to designate at least 3 such public places immediately in order that notices inviting bids on public projects already designed and for which specifications have been proposed may proceed to bid without delay and without awaiting the time otherwise re- quired for an ordinance to become operative. Section 3: Publication. This ordinance shall be published as required by law. I, HERBERT K. WHITE, City Clerk of the City of Burlingame, do hereby certify that the foregoing ordinance was introduced and adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council held on June 4, 1973, by unanimous vote, as follows: AYES: COUNCILMEN: Amstrup, Crosby, Cusick, Mangini, Martin.
