ADDING CHAPTER 13.10 CONTROLLING SANDBLAST-
ING AiVD OTHER SIDIILAR TYPES OF EXTEP.IOR
BUILDING CLEANING
The CITY COUNCIL of the City of Burlingame does ORDAIN
Section 1. Chapter 18.10, concerning sandblasting and
other similar types of exterior building cleaning, is added to
the Burlingame Municipal Code, to read as follows:
"CHAPTER 18.10
SAiVDBLASTIPdG
18.10.010 Permit required.
It shall be unlawful for any person to commence
sandblasting or similar type of exterior building cleaning
without first having obtained a permit therefor from the
Buil_ding Department and having paid the prescribed fee.
Fees nayabie under this section shall be collected by the
Building Department in the amount and on the same basis
as construction permit fees are set forth in the Building
Code of the city.
18.10.020 Use of certain materials prohibited.
Pio person shall conduct sandblasting, or similar
type of building cJ.eaning on the exterior of any building
within the city using dry sand or other dry abrasive
materials except when shrouding is approved by the
Building Inspector.
18.10.030 Regulations as to pollution of air.
Such other reasonable regulations as s17a11 be directed
by the Buildinf; Inspector to preveizt dust or other particles
from polluting the air or becoming a public nuisance or
menace to health, shall be made a condition for granting
of the permit prescribed.

18.10.040 6Tnen work to be performed.
Any sandblasting or similar type of external building
cleaning conducted within the city pursuant to a permit
first obtained as prescribed in section 18.10.010 shall
be limited to the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on
Monday through Friday only, provided, that such days
are not city holidays. Under exceptional circumstances,
the Building Inspector may grant permission to exceed
the above day and hour restrictions on the condition
that the permittee reimburse the City for its expenses
in aerforming off-duty hours inspections."
