ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BURLINGAME
ADOPTING AN URGENCY ORDINANCE PURSUANT TO GOVERNMENT CODE
SECTIONS 36937 FOR INSTALLATION OF STOP SIGNS AT THE INTERSECTION
OF MONTERO AVENUE AND EASTON DRIVE
The CITY COUNCIL of the CITY OF BURLINGAME does hereby ordain as follows:
Section 1. Government Code Section 36937 allows the City of Burlingame to adopt an
urgency ordinance for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, or safety. The
intersection of Easton Drive and Montero Avenue poses difficult sight line problems for driveway
uses and curbside parking. Nearby uses generate traffic that can be unfamiliar with the area also
poses conflicts. Therefore, stop signs at the three points of this intersection are needed; however,
if this ordinance is not adopted as an urgency matter, the stop signs would not be put in place until
after school begins. In order to fully protect the public health, safety, and welfare, these stop signs
should be put in place immediately.
Section 2. Subsection 13.20.010(e) is amended to read as follows:
(e) East Lane approaching Burlingame Avenue and Carolan Avenue while traveling
west;
East Lane approaching North Lane;
Easton Drive approaching Canyon Road;
Easton Drive approaching Cabrillo Avenue;
Easton Drive approaching Columbus Avenue;
Easton Drive approaching Cortez Avenue;
Easton Drive approaching Montero Avenue;
Easton Drive approaching Vancouver Avenue;
Edgehill Drive approaching Paloma Drive;
EI Prado Road approaching Canyon Road;
EI Prado Road approaching Surmnit Drive;
Escalante Drive approaching Rivera Drive;
Section 3. Subsection 13.20.010(m) is amended as follows:

Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect irmnediately.
Section 5. This ordinance shall be published as required by law.
