ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BURLINGAME AMENDING
2 ORDINANCE NUMBER 1648 (SAN MATEO COUNTY TOURISM BUSINESS
IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT) TO ADD FOUR MEMBERS TO THE ADVISORY
3 BOARD REPRESENTING TOURISM -RELATED BUSINESSES

5 The CITY COUNCIL of the CITY OF BURLINGAME does hereby ordain as follows:
6 Section 1.
7 (a) Ordinance No. 1648 was adopted in February 2001 to form the San Mateo County
8 Tourism Business Improvement District pursuant to the provisions of the Parking and Business
9 Improvement Area Law of 1989, as codified in California Streets and Highways Code sections
10 36500 and following, and was amended by Ordinance No. 1678 to remove Daly City from the
11 District.
12 (b) The District Advisory Board has requested the City to amend the ordinance to provide
13 four additional members to the Board to better represent tourism -related businesses in the County.

15 Section 2. Section 14(a)(7) of Ordinance No. 1648 is amended to read as follows:
16 (7) Eight (8) owners or managers of companies or businesses located in San Mateo County
17 and directly related to tourism in San Mateo County.

19 Section 3. The terms of office of the four new members of the District Advisory Board
20 appointed pursuant to this Ordinance shall be as follows:
21 The new members of the advisory board appointed pursuant to this ordinance shall be
22 staggered terms, with two (2) members serving a one-year term, one (1) member serving a two-year
23 term, and one (1) member serving a three-year term. Initial terms under this section shall be run
24 from May 1, 2004. The initial length of term for each member shall be chosen by lot at the first
25 advisory board meeting in 2004.

1 Section 4. Except as expressly provided in this Ordinance, all other provisions of
2 Ordinance Nos. 1648 and 1678 and implementing resolutions shall remain in full force and effect.
3 Section 5. This ordinance shall be published as required by law.

8 foregoing ordinance was introduced at a meeting of the City Council held on the 31st day of
9 Octrober, 2003, and adopted thereafter at a regular meeting of the City Council held on the 1 st day
10 of November, 2003, by the following vote:
